| Program Notes: | I have rarely struggled to compose as I did in writing interlace. The concept was quite clear to me but I found that the more I worked on it the more it eluded my grasp. After two complete rewrites Robert Frankenberry and I gave the first performance of interlace on January 27, 2014 in Bellefield Hall Auditorium at the University of Pittsburgh. Seven years later I have finally understood what its true form should be and revisioned it on January 3rd, 2021- removing some three minutes worth of needless distraction and reordering the core material into a clear trajectory. r z |
