Written between December 5 and 12, 2004 for a performance on the "Marquis de Riviere" Stradivarius, I waited until I had it in my hands and played in every range before finishing a piece that would display the particularly beautiful tonal qualities of a truly fine instrument.
Battery Park, New York Harbor for violin
is a musical portrait of my mother and myself leaning on the railing looking out across the water, lost in our solitary thoughts and grateful for the company.

written for David Cerutti and configured in two teleports registered with the Ohio entelechron network (which "provides continuous service in all dimensions"). The opening statement of teleport a presents a vista of luxurious, troubled youth, which is gradually evened out through application of an harmonic filter. The mechanism of teleport b is unknown. about 5 minutes

Commissioned by, dedicated to and written for Lawrence Stomberg, the title, reaching after , in my mind refers to (among other things) earlier works called Ricercare, the idea of researching the past through memories or objects left behind (how many passionate hands and minds have played our instruments before us?...) and the image of reaching after phantoms from the past or glimmers from the future.
